Meet WI/Toaster aka Tosa(Bonded w Microwave)

Are you looking for a pair of loving, intelligent, pretty, and active girls who are always on the go? Well, then Tosa (a.k.a. Toaster) and her sister, Mika (a.k.a. Microwave) might be just the pups for you.

Tosa is a healthy, 39.1 pound, almost one year old Brittany/Lab Mix. She adores running around in her fosters' yard, going for walks in the neighborhood, hunting for squirrels and other critters, playing fetch, performing surveillance duty while looking out her foster family's picture window and sliding doors, and gobbling up all the training treats she can. Her current favorite past time is carrying a tennis ball around in her mouth, throwing the ball for herself, and then retrieving it.

The name "Tosa" comes from the Potawatomi word for "firefly." Tosa has a special meaning for her foster parents. It is a contraction for the city of "Wauwatosa," a place where Tosa's foster parents once lived. Tosa lives up to her name. Her personality, eyes, and smile always sparkle. She loves with her whole heart and whoever adopts her will not be disappointed!

Tosa is a very devoted dog once she feels comfortable. She basks in all the kisses, hugs, tummy rubs, and praise she receives. She often likes to cuddle up next to her humans on the sofa as they relax in the living room or sleep with them in their beds. She is a big velcro dog. In fact, foster mom has observed that Tosa will howl a bit after being put into her crate as her humans go out the front door. This pup is NOT a fan of car rides nor thunderstorms.

Tosa likes people and other dogs IF she knows them well. If she is unsure, she will bark. Tosa's foster mom feels her fear is rooted in her limited time for socialization while she and her sister were being boarded before coming into foster care. As a result, any potential adopter(s) who is/are experienced with the breed and is/are serious about adopting Tosa and her sister will need to keep in mind slow introductions of people, animals, and novel situations/ inanimate objects.

Serious adopters will need to be committed to continuing Tosa's training. Right now, Tosa knows "sit," "paw," "stay," and "come." We continue to work on, "down,""look at me," and "off." Mastery of these commands will help Tosa on her walks and her yard. On walks, she has a tendency to chase moving cars. Early on in her foster's yard, she jumped the four foot fence. This puppy also likes food and has been known to help foster mom by "prerinsing" the dishes placed into the dishwasher. Tosa fiercely adores her people, her house, her yard, her toys, and life in general. She is most definitely a "lover" and not a "fighter." Since Tosa is part of a bonded pair, and her sister, Mika, is a little less predictable, foster mom would not recommend adding this bonded pair to more canines in the home.

Tosa is typical of all sporting breeds and requires plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. She does best with one or two one-hour walks daily plus lots of romping around in her foster family's fenced yard. Tosa likes her treats; so training should come naturally for those who are committed to spending time doing so. She is crate and potty trained. Tosa also still needs to do plenty of heavy duty chewing. ( Foster Mom has learned that the hard way:). ) When Tosa first arrived in foster care, she was leery of our five-year-old. Now she looks for her in the mornings and cuddles with her in the evenings.

Again, slow and calm introductions are a must for this dynamic duo. Tosa is a jumper and a climber, so a six foot privacy fence would be best. This firefly along with her sister are ready for an experienced adopter. She and her sister will make a great addition to his/her family!

UTD on vaccines, hw neg, crate trained, housebroken and on hw ft prevention.

If you are looking for a pair of active loving girls, you can't go wrong with this bonded pair.
