This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Waylon - a handsome, one year old, Black Lab / Terrier mix, who weighs 39 pounds (as of 3/4/25)... did we mention he has the cutest ears you've ever seen?! This boy is one of those dogs who will immediately steal your heart! And we are shocked that he has been on our website for four months and not scooped up yet!

His foster shares: "Waylon is so happy-go-lucky, and you can tell he loves and appreciates every moment of every day! He is a smaller guy and loves other pups - he is SO happy when he has a playmate! He also adores his people (especially children!), and gets excited when he has the chance to make a new friend. When he gets excited his whole body wiggles and then he will lean into you and stare into your eyes with absolute love and adoration. Waylon would love to find an active family who could bring him on exciting new adventures and show him all that the world has to offer! He is so much fun to be around, and is sure to always keep life interesting. He is a quick learner and is very attention motivated - he will be easy to train for this reason. He is house trained and walks well on a leash. He has not been around cats as far as we know - but if you have a cat we are happy to cat test him for you to make sure. Waylon is sure to teach you to appreciate all of the little things in life, and there is nothing more that he loves than snuggling up at the end of a long day! All he is missing is his own family to love!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
