- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Wanda has a birth defect, so she's extra special without a tail. She had some issues with her bowels, chronic diarrhea and frequent attempts to go. We asked for a consult at the University of Missouri, but it was cancelled when the pandemic hit. Because Wanda was exhibiting all symptoms of EPI, I ordered an EPI test kit. It was not an absolute definitive positive result, but felt we needed to try something. So, Wanda got started on enzymes, and after just two weeks, there was marked improvement! There were some hiccups along the way, and we just felt there was still an issue. When the University called to reschedule the appt from spring, we jumped on the chance to have Wanda looked at by a GI specialist. Wanda had lab work and urinalysis, her EPI test wasn’t redone - everything came back normal. Now we were really scratching our heads. If not EPI, then what? We were encouraged to follow up with the University’s internal medicine dept. on 10/29. They did an MRI and x-ray. Wanda definitely has a congenital defect (on the outside and inside). Wanda’s colon is larger than it should be. Also, where her pelvis and spinal cord meet is compressed. Her x-rays definitely do not look like regular x-rays. The vet could see that Wanda’s intestines were full of feces. She had issues that she was not able to empty her bowels which explains why she was always trying to go. The vet started her on lactulose and a compound medication (both liquid) to be given twice daily. The vet prescribed her hydrolyzed food which will help her with digestion. The vet also said there’s minimal nerve function. .

Meet Wanda
Wanda is a petite lil shepherd/husky. she may look more shepherd but she acts more husky LOL. She is super sweet. She is very smart and extremely trainable. It's clear that nobody took the time to teach her anything. But she's learning and will only get better with consistency. Fully vetted.
There is no “fixing” Wanda. We need an angel who will love her as she is and care for her for the rest of her life.
Wanda is lots of fun! She loves being outside and chasing a ball. She will bring it right to your feet and patiently wait. She needs a yard to run and play and people who will love hanging out with her. When play is done, she loves to snuggle!
She is being fostered in the Jefferson City area
