Meet Wags

Hi…. I’m Wags, a five-year-old Dachshund weighing about 11.5lbs. I came into rescue from a neglectful situation and was quite skinny, but I have slowly put on weight and am much healthier. I am your typical stubborn doxie that will require an experienced (preferably Dachshund) dog owner. For the most part I am laid back and low energy, occasionally Foster Mom catches me playing with toys. The longer I am in my foster home the more playful and vocal I have become. Foster Mom says my tail has not stopped wagging since I got here…. hence my name. For the most part I am potty trained, but please take me out to go potty right after I eat and on a normal schedule. I do love to bark and am very alert to strange sounds and people walking by my yard. I am a good girl in a crate while my foster family is out of the house, but I prefer to sleep in my foster mom’s bed at night. She is a sucker. I love to lay in the sun and explore the fenced yard so I can bark at everything that walks by. Like a typical Dachshund I love to burrow, so take caution when sitting down where there is a blanket since I may be under it. Once I know and trust you, I am very affectionate and love to give kisses and get pets. I am friendly with the other dogs in my foster home but can be possessive of my foster mom. I am good with kids and men, but my reaction to cats is unknown. My adoption fee is $400.00.

To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
