Viola Pit Bull Terrier Thousand Oaks, CA

Viola is a 2-year and 1-month-old Pit Bull Terrier (39 lbs) currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. She has been at the shelter since May 28, 2025, and is ready for her new home.

Notes from a volunteer:

"Sweet little Viola came in as a stray and appears to have recently had babies, but no babies were found with her!
She is a bit unsure initially in approaching me. But she warmed up quickly and would approach me for affection! She walked right beside me on leash. This girl also loves to eat and is an excellent treat catcher!
Playgroup: Walks well. A little nervous entering the yard. Stayed in the corner shaking. "

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs, The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks.
