Meet VINNIE-ADOPTED

ADOPTED -UPDATE: October 7, 2010 - Vinnie continues to make good progress with his foster family. We have more exciting news that Vinnie has now entered our FOSTER TO ADOPT Progam with his foster family.

Please note that Vinnie is not available for adoption at this time.

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 12, 2010 - We have some exciting news - Vinnie is now in foster care! We can't thank you enough Terri, Ian, Josh and Chloe for stepping up and becoming Vinnie's foster family. We will be posting updates to the site on Vinnie's progress. His road to recovery is a slow one, but he has made significant improvement to date and he certainly is not the same boy we pulled from the animal control facility one month ago.

UPDATE: August 15, 2010 - We have some good news - our Vinnie boy has shown so much improvement during this past week. He has some fur starting to grow as well new pink skin is showing through. Vin is a magnificant boy and he is feeeling so much better and his personality is starting to shine through. Vin is super smart and knows many things - he knows how to sit, down, paw, "watch me", roll over, stay, come. He loves to play ball and is pretty good and catching it! He loves to play with dog friendly dogs and he is very respectful in his play. Vin still has a way to go regarding his health, but has made remarkable progress to date. Recovery is estimated at 3 to 4 months and does require specific care. Please see note below.

PLEASE NOTE - Vin's foster home will need to make the commitment of regular vet visits, approximately one to two visits per month for the next 4 or 5 months. The vet is located in the Hamilton area. As well, at this time Vin is not ready for adoption. However, we do have a foster to adopt program availble.

The rescue would like to keep Vin within a 1/2 hour distance from Hamiltony.

UPDATE - August 3, 2010. We have moved VinDiesel who we like to call Vin/Vinnie to our vet clinic where he could receive the necessary medical care. Vin has been diagnosed with severe yeast, fungus and staph infection. He is currently on 2 weeks of antibiotics. He also requires 3 baths a week, which will be reduced to 2 per week and then eventually 1 per week. Along with his baths, his ears need to be cleaned. He requires daily topical ointment applied to his skin. The vet says his recovery will be approximately 3 to 4 months - he is not contagious. He is underweight by approximately 10 pounds. He is eating well and enjoys his food and treats. He is on a special skin support diet and omega oils

Vinnie/Vin is a 10 month old german shepherd and is a very very sweet natured boy. He is great with cats and kittens;, he loves the little kittens at the clinic and enjoys giving them their daily bath of doggy slobber! He has been with a spayed female giant schnauzer/lab mix and was good with her - they had fun playing. He bonds quickly with people; he likes to follow Jessica the vet tech all around the clinic;. He knows basic commands i.e. sit, shake a paw, down, "watch me" and does respond very well.

Please note that his medical care will be covered by the rescue.

If you have the time and commitment it takes to be Vindiesel's foster parent(s), please send us an email at deannaaarfrescue@yahoo.ca

Please note due to Vindiesel's large size no children under the age of 15 years.

PLEASE HELP - URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED - This poor boy is in urgent need of a foster home as well as urgent need of medical care.

Currently he is in an animal control facility that is too full. Vindiesel is a beautiful boy with such a lovely personality - he truly is a good boy and he needs help.
