Venus Labrador Retriever & Hound Mix Phoenix, AZ

Say hello to Venus. Hard to believe that this gal was so terrified on the streets that she had to be humanely trapped. But my goodness, once she was got a taste of the good life, she has not looked back! It has been fun watching Venus enjoy life - she is full of love, personality, goofiness, happiness, athleticism, and her confidence is growing. Venus was rescued with her best friend Cuddles who has since been adopted. Venus seems to do well with other dogs (careful intros!) but we have not tested her with cats. We do feel that she would be a good friend to a cat as well. What we have learned about Venus is she is a darter. Whomever adopts her must be mindful that she likes to dart out of any door that is ajar. Mostly though, Venus loves to lean up against you and have you love her. She will show you her belly to rub, put her head on your lap to pet, and join you for naps to cuddle. Since in our care, Venus has become very attached to her foster family and at times we are seeing her become protective with lots of barks. We are currently working on her socialization skills by taking her to doggie day care where she gets the opportunity to visit with lots of dogs and people....this is helping her feel more secure.
