Meet Velvet
Meet Velvet!
She just arrived here to NW Indiana with her sister Mitzi. We will post more about her as we learn about her personality and temperament.
She is guessed to be between 3 and 5 months. She is 12lbs, has had 1st round of DHPP and dewormer.
Happy spunky puppy that likes to chew and play!
Origin Story:
Her mom is a stray dog that hangs around a man's property in Houston. The mom isn't very social but did come on to his property to have her puppies. Our rescue contact was able to see the mom but wasn't able to get any pictures. She described her as a 35 - 40lb black lab. So mom is on the smaller side. Dad is unknown. There were two other stray dogs on the property that were black and white and longer hair, potentially one of them was the dad. But the property owner didn't know for sure.
Adoption Process:

- one of our team members will get back to you.
- our dogs can be seen by appointment only after an approved application has been received.
- Adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, initial worming, and microchip.
-We cannot place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.

Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
