Velveeta Pit Bull Terrier Mix Warrenville, IL

Velveeta (“Veeta,” for short) is a beautiful 99% white pittie mix! We think she’s this white because she was definitely sent from Heaven! The literal icing on top is that she has one brown spot on the very top of her head that is perfect to aim your kisses at!

Velveeta came to us from a town in IL named Vermillion. The rescue was contacted by someone who knew this momma and her babies were not being kept in the greatest of conditions. The house had no running water or electricity. Luckily, the previous owner decided it was better to give them up and let other people find them good homes then to try and fight animal cruelty charges.

Velveeta was all bones when she first got into foster care. She was clearly malnourished and looked like she had barely been fed. Despite being skin and bones, she was a fabulous mother to her babies, who all had nice little round tummies thanks to her. We don’t know how she did it, but she kept all 8 of her babies alive when she was barely alive herself. Since being with us and getting a taste of the good life, she has probably put on more than 20 pounds, and is thoroughly enjoying all the food and treats she can get!

Velveeta loves other dogs of all shapes and sizes! She is currently living with 4 other dogs in her foster home. She is also lucky enough to live by an alumnus from our rescue and they love romping around the backyard together! When there was snow, it made their romps a little more difficult, but they still managed to find a way to play together!

Velveeta has not yet met a cat. We can cat test upon request. Velveeta does live around chickens and just has a normal sense of curiosity around them. She sniffs, checks them out, then carries on about her business. She would much rather play with her foster siblings than look at the funny things walking low to the ground outside.

Velveeta has been amazing with the one child she has met. She has repeatedly interacted with him and every time has been a wonderful experience for her! We can’t imagine that would be any different with any other child she would meet.
