Meet Vegas
**NEEDS WORKING-DOG HOME
Meet Vegas - the most handsome hound around! He is a purebred Blue Ticked Coonhound, about 50-60 pounds, and around 3 years young. Vegas was originally a hunting dog deep in the rural South before he was brought to a high kill shelter. We rescued him before it was too late.
When he was initially adopted, we soon found that Vegas did not do well in a single dog home. He was restless, looking for his pack aimlessly, refusing to eat, relax, or sleep. He followed and obsessed over any bright lights he saw (some hunting dogs are trained to follow lanterns to find their pack-- if they wander too far and get lost, they are taught to chase after the nearest light to find the pack).
When Vegas returned to daycare, he was very happy to be around the other dogs again. He was finally back with a pack. Vegas would do well in a pack with 3 or more dogs (no cats or small dogs). He needs to be constantly stimulated and is NOT a homebody, so would thrive only in a working or hunting home. Moving him into a new pack will be a sudden transition, and will likely be difficult for him at first, so Vegas needs an experienced, dedicated, and committed owner to help with the transition and get him integrated.
Vegas is a very loyal, loving, devoted dog that will love you like no other. He is gentle with humans, remarkably intelligent, very treat motivated, and undeniably handsome (makes all of the volunteers fall in love!) He loves playing with dogs around his size (no small dogs, 30 pounds and under) and has so much fun in doggy daycare! He is house and crate trained, very good on leash, medium-high energy, and is non-reactive.
