Meet URSA

MEET URSA! URSA is a chow mix estimated to be between 11-13yrs old but with her energy we would think younger. Ursa is healthy, spayed, up to date on her shots, and very active. She has no issues with stairs, long walks, chasing her favorite ball, or jumping onto the bed for a snuggle. As is typical with Chows, Ursa is slow to trust new people, but she is incredibly sweet and loving once you earn her trust. Ursa’s adopter adopted Ursa from a NC shelter in February of 2017. Her age, and history, is unknown but most vet's estimates put her around 11-13 years old, though she seems younger than that.

From her owner: As much as we love her, it is no longer safe for her to stay with us. Despite several years, and thousands of dollars in training, we have not been able to get her and our other dog to get along. Keeping them separated is mostly effective, but has not proven to guarantee their safety, and we have exhausted all of our options. While infrequent, their fights have grown extremely violent recently, and we can no longer keep them from seriously hurting each other. Ursa needs a new home preferably without other dogs, cats or small children. While she is fine with other dogs, I can’t guarantee she won’t be reactive. She has no experience with cats or children, that I know of. Vet references and a home check are required. We are in the Raeford, NC area, but willing to travel to get her the right home.

If you do not have resources, friends, or advice to help Ursa find a new, safe home, I would kindly ask that you do not leave a comment. This is not a decision we came to lightly, and it is unfortunately the best option for Ursa. We understand how difficult rehoming a dog can be for them, but the alternative is to keep her in a dangerous situation. We have worked with professional trainers, vets, and behavioral experts, and implemented their suggestions. We are beyond our ability to handle the situation, and this is our last resort to keep Ursa safe. Suggestions on ways to keep her in the house with us, and your opinions on the situation, are not in Ursa’s best interest at this point. Thank you for understanding.

If you are interested in giving this sweet girl a home with no other dogs please complete our adoption application so that we can help her current owner find a home without other dogs www.fabsrescue.com/applications
