Lolo is a very special boy who was rescued from the San Bernardino City Shelter. His name was already Lolo, and he seemed to know it so I did not wish to change it. Lolo was listed as an owner surrender whereby they dumped him saying, “We are having a baby.” Lolo was so afraid to be at the shelter; he was practically in a panic over having had people that he thought loved him, only to throw him away. My heart went out to him and Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue saved this darling boy.

Lolo is a sweet and sensitive companion who loves to be near your side. I had him DNA tested and he is a Chihuahua/Feist mix. A Feist is a dog from England that is a descendant of other ratter type dogs. He also has some Rat Terrier, Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz, and Italian Greyhound in his line as well. Lolo weighs about 12 lbs. and is age 6. He is mostly cream-colored, with some light tan patches. He has long legs and can run fast and can leap up on a high bed. He is very quiet, and I have only heard him bark once. He is not destructive nor does he dig. He is a great companion if you are looking for a quiet companion dog. He gets along with other dogs, but prefers for things to be more on the mellow side, meaning, not a bunch of craziness in his face. He is not too interested in playing or toys, but loves to be secure, near his people, and loves his meals and treats! He adjusted to the rescue routine quickly and finds security in the routine. He is crate-trained and potty-trained (however, potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and he sleeps quietly in his crate during the night, without ever making a fuss, enjoying his little rawhide stick as a bedtime snack. He also goes in his crate intermittently throughout the day if I have to leave for a bit. It is very easy if I need to leave.

Lolo is marked Urgent because he has a heart murmur that does not affect him one iota. This may tend to scare people off, but there are many dogs with heart murmurs that live long, normal lives, and the condition is common among toy breeds and Chihuahua types. The rescuer is not able to keep Lolo; Lolo will need to find a home of his own. I have taken Lolo to a specialist to properly ascertain the murmur and it is considered to be “mild.” Lolo is actually in pretty good shape, in spite of, and no meds are needed at this time. Lolo should have proper yearly check-ups just to monitor his heart. He is considered highly adoptable. Lolo behaves like any other dog, and one would not even know about the heart murmur if it was not disclosed.

I am seeking a compassionate person who understands that some dogs are more sensitive than others and who will want to offer Lolo love and security to cure his hurt from his owners abandoning him. I personally love Lolo; he is one of my all-time favorites, because I tend to like the quiet, calm types that just go with my program and do not have high energy needs, but at the same time want to cuddle and be near. I seek a person who will have love and understanding for Lolo’s case.

NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase.
