Twix American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix San Diego, CA

This gorgeous girl is 3 year-old Twix. Twix is a sweet girl who just needs a little time to warm up to you! She was rescued from a hoarding situation and has some skin conditions that need managing, but she was recently spayed and is otherwise a healthy girl. Twix is approximately 50 pounds, so she is just large enough to make a great foot warmer and just small enough that you can lift her into the car!

Twixie is a very sweet dog who loves belly rubs, kisses, and sticking her head out the car window. When she is excited, she snorts like a little pig! It’s so cute! She needs a little bit of patience and a little bit of space, but she will be following you around in no time!

Twix is really good on the leash and usually walks at your pace without pulling. She will sometimes freeze up when she sees strange people or dogs, so she might prefer to go on walks at a time when there are fewer people out. Stairs can be a little intimidating, but she’s tough and she has made a lot of progress! We’re still working on some basic commands like sitting and coming when called. She recognizes her name now and will sometimes come when called, but she does get distracted easily.

Twix really loves her treats and they can help get her attention, but sometimes she can’t pass up looking at all the people and cars going by! She is comfortable napping and relaxing in her crate when the door is open - we leave it open because she also loves our couch! - so we think she could be fully crate-trained pretty quickly. She does have quite a bit of separation anxiety though and will need to work on staying on her own.

We think Twix would probably do best in a house without other dogs or small children because she is sometimes afraid of dogs coming near her while on her walks and small children making noise seem to scare her. She hasn’t been around cats or small animals before. She is interested in insects though and will try to get rid of all the flies in the house!
