Meet Turk
Turk is located in TEXAS and is available for local adoption or adoption and transport to another state. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down here, so he is willing to relocate to a good, loving, forever home.
Turk and his siblings were born under our care. Their mother Pearl was surrendered by her owner, who allowed her to get pregnant, waited too long before she tried to get her fixed, and then wanted to get rid of her before she had the puppies. Pearl is a terrier mix and the father(s) are unknown, Pearl's DNA test came back as a mixture of 14 different breeds, with only 20% American Staffordshire Terrier.
Turk has been in our rescue since he was born. He is one of two pups from the litter that did not get adopted. Turk and his brother Moby are now two years old and still waiting for their forever homes. Turk needed to be adopted when he was a pup. Being in the rescue for so long he did not get the exposure to new situations and different people he needed. So he is very shy. Turk is a very good boy. He is sweet and gentle, loves to snuggle, and gives kisses. He likes toys, treats, the wading pool, and playing chase with other dogs. He is crate trained and will go in his crate when told to do so. He appears to be fully house trained, although he will still use the puppy pads if he cannot get out when he needs to. Turk minds fairly well but could use additional obedience training. Turk must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and would like a secure, fenced yard to run and play.
Turk has been in rescue for way too long, so he is very timid of strangers, and needs lots of additional socialization. We are hoping that some kind and gentle person will adopt Turk and give him the loving home he so deserves.
Turk is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He is negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Turk has a $200.00 local adoption fee. His out-of-state adoption fee is $500.00 and includes ground transport to the northeast, pacific northwest, or Canada. He is being fostered in Texas and we do not have the resources to send him north until after he is adopted.
