Meet Tryston

Hey everyone! Tryston here, or as mom likes to call me Sir Grumps-A-Lot! I am a stunning four-year-old Australian Shepherd who came to Speak! St. Louis in April 2017. I was in horrible condition! My fur was matted, I smelled awful, had intestinal worms, had trachea damage and was heartworm positive. If that isn't enough, I am also blind. I was not born blind, but instead, I am blind as a result of a systemic infection such as distemper. My blindness was totally preventable had I been given my yearly vaccinations. My previous owner failed me on almost every possible level. As a result of such abuse, I have minimal trust in humans, especially women. I do not bite, but will growl and act very scary, so people will leave me alone.

The good news about me: Living with my foster family has given me much more confidence. I am always comfortable with my foster dad, but for some reason, ladies make me a bit nervous. Every time my mom would pet me or talk to me I would growl. Nothing serious, just a little "hey leave me alone." Thankfully, my mom didn't leave me alone and she would continue to baby me and sing to me until one day I realized she wasn't so bad. It took a very long time but now every time I hear her voice I do little tap dances and wiggle my butt. I get so excited to "see" her! She now calls me Fred Astaire because she loves my dancing! That better than Sir Grumps-A-Lot, I think!

Dad, on the other hand, can pet me as much as he wants! I would love to stay with my foster family, but mom and dad think I would do better in a quieter home. I actually live with seven other dogs, and let me tell you, they are crazy. Six of them are Border Collies! (What were mom and dad thinking?) Don't they know that Aussies are better than Border Collies. Hrmph!

So what would I like in my new home you ask? Well, for starters, I would just like a parent(s) who simply love me for me. Maybe a steak dinner, on occassion, but nothing too extravagant. I would do best as either being an only dog or maybe with one calm, confident dog. I do live with cats, but I get excited and bark at them. Since I get nervous easily, I would also do better without children. Mom thinks I would do best with a very dog-savvy person that could deal with my anxiety and reactivity. I guess this is a lot to ask, but what I give in return is the best buddy in the world who will totally adore you.

I am also pretty gorgeous, so I will make great eye candy! What do you say, will you give me a chance? Please fill out an application at http://www.speakstlouis.com/forms/adoption-application/
