Meet Truffle

Meet Truffle! This handsome, four year old guy is 42 pounds of fluff and fun! Truffle is just about the most friendly guy you'll ever meet, but true to his Elkhound breed, he is a little on the stubborn side and would flourish with an adopter who is dog savvy and can teach him to use his smarts for good! Truffle does not seem to have a mean bone in his body, but he will try to see what he can get away with!

Truffle is potty trained, but did mark a little when joining his new foster home. He is also very well behaved in his crate, but he is not such a fan of actually entering the crate, so he'll need someone willing to motivate him to do so! Once he's in the crate, he's a perfect gentleman and will only make a peep when he needs to use the bathroom!

Truffle is fostered with dogs of all shapes and sizes, a cat and kids. We've found that cats are far too tempting to chase, so Truffle will need to go to a cat free adoptive home! He does great with the dogs in his foster home, but would also be content to be an only pet! Although Truffle is fantastic with the human kids in his foster home, he does have a tendency to mouth people when he plays, so an adoptive home with older children would probably be best to avoid any accidents.

Truffle would love to join an active family that will keep him physically and mentally stimulated! If that sounds like you, apply today! Truffle's adoption fee is $250.

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
