Meet Trooper

Trooper! Where to begin. Once a terribly broken soul, over time Trooper is learning to trust, to live. Trooper was trapped just feet away from an incredibly busy road. He was too afraid to come to anybody and if he dared to escape, he most likely would have ended up in traffic. Trooper was humanely trapped back in October and it has taken a lot of patience and understanding to help him decompress and find joy in life. Soon after Trooper was trapped and safe, we learned that he had a previous owner who kept him in the back yard. Trooper was not with the family for long but they got him with the full intention of keeping him as a backyard dog. When a gate was left open and he escaped. We were so relieved that they did not want this gentle soul back and we promised him we would help him heal and find him a home that would care for him until his last breath. Trooper is knock down gorgeous! Within the last few months, he has really blossomed in the confidence and happiness department. He absolutely loves to romp with his foster sister Princess (also up for adoption), and loves cuddle time! He is an 80 lbs. lap dog! Over the last few months Trooper has gained enough confidence that he can walk on a leash, go for car rides and accept treats from strangers! Every day is better than the one prior. Trooper will do wonderful in a home that has women! For whatever reason, it does take him a while to warm up to men, but he will. He finds great comfort in women, and does well romping with female dogs as well. If you are a patient, understanding and loving individual and Trooper is tugging at your heartstrings, please take a moment to fill out an application. Trooper will make such a loyal, grateful companion. There is an adoption donation of $200 for Trooper. An application is a must: https://www.povertyspets.org/adoption-form. Thank you! Once received you will be contacted within 48-72 hours.
