Meet Trixie
Trixie loves her family and anyone that walks in the door. When you walk in the door, she's ready to greet you with her deep brown eyes and whipping tail. She is getting better about jumping on people but she loves to love and wants your affection too. She is one of the most cuddly dogs we've ever had, which is great because her small frame and 35lbs is perfect for curling up together. She loves our baby and seems to like other kids that she interacts with.
She is also very smart. During training sessions she picked up on the lessons very quickly. With a family that can dedicate time and energy to providing training and structure she will do very very well. She is also crate trained, is very good in the car, and enjoys all adventures.
Providing training will be especially important for Trixie because she is dog-reactive. While she has gotten significantly better since being in the shelter, she still gets worked-up when she sees or hears other dogs. She loves and plays non-stop with our dog, so we think she is just selective and some of her reactivity may be related to being on leash. She also got along well with previous foster families' dogs, so she can and does get along with dogs; they just need to be introduced appropriately, and Trixie needs to be desensitized to dogs in the neighborhood-which will require consistent training.
She has an incredible amount of energy which is perfect for an active family. However, she also needs a fully fenced yard or an open space to run and play. She loves to play tug and will quickly transition from playing, running to cuddling and chilling in the house. Her dream home is with a family who will play with her, snuggle with her on the couch, and let her sleep in your bed. In return, she will love you endlessly.
