PUPDTE 31 August 2022 -- This little dog is fantastic, and will make the right person an incredible training partner. Trix is gentle and sweet and playful and bouncy, and very responsive to her person. She has a LOT to learn in the trust department, and will need another solid dog in the home, but with patience and gentle guidance, a lucky human will have a real life partner in this little gem. The best part is that she is super honest and will tell you what she needs right away. We've made a lot of progress, but Trix will make the most progress once she has her very own person.

Trix had been in the care of a volunteer and unfortunately, was not a good fit for her home, so was moved to the farm for some training and rehab to help her find the very best home possible.

Our guess is that Trix did not have enough exposure to things in her first months, so is taking some time catching up. While there is no doubt that she can be initially fearful of new stimuli, she's a real thinker and once she understands that the new thing isn't really scary, she's fine -- she's Sarah's favorite kind of dog to work with, as you can truly watch dogs like Trix change and grow by the day. Once Trix gets to know you, she is sweet, gentle, curious, and affectionate. She is very biddable, and we feel that once she gets a few miles under her feet, that she will be an easily trained up pup and game for most anything her new humans will want to do.

Trix will do best in a training centered home where folks understand that growth is gained by slowly but surely pushing that envelope and widening a dogs horizons. She will benefit from classes and partnership building exercises such as agility or rally, and there should be another stable dog(s) already within the home.

Trix really enjoys the company of other dogs, and we believe that with appropriate training and exposure, that she will be fine with dog savvy cats. Trix is crate trained, rides nicely (crated) in a car, and walks reasonably well on leash. Trix will not be placed into a home with young children, though we may consider her a home with older, quiet, dog savvy children.

Dogs that have not lived previously with children will not be offered to homes where young children reside. We do not 'test' dogs with children or cats, since testing may not show an accurate picture, and may give false comfort to their new home. If a dog has lived with children or cats, that will be stated above. We do not place dogs as ESA, nor will we place a dog as hypo-allergenic. Applicants interested in adoption of a potential service dog must be working with an experienced trainer.
