TRAPPER Mixed Breed Huntsville, AL

Trapper (A542351) is a 25 pound fully grown neutered male mixed breed dog. He is a little over a year old, so still has some puppy energy. Trapper came into the shelter April 5th, and was terrified and biting at staff. After a few days to decompress he opened up and has been an amazing dog. Trapper now loves people and other dogs, he has done fabulously at the shelter in big groups of about 5 dogs, and lived with 4 other dogs in his foster home. Trapper loves people very much, his favorite spot is right beside you! He loves to cuddle up at bedtime, will be very excited to greet you when you come home, and loves to give kisses. We think Trapper could even do well with children, we took him out to PetSmart and Tractor Supply and he enjoyed interacting with several kids. Trapper also shows no sensitivities to touching his face, feet, or tail. He has also done well with my cats and guinea pigs, he will usually just sniff them and move along, he doesn't chase or bother them. Trapper is somewhat housetrained, he will go outside if walked on a schedule, but he does struggle with marking and signalling that he has to go. We have managed this with a belly band for the marking, and more frequent walks for the signalling. Trapper does pull when he is on the leash, but being only 25 pounds he is easily corrected, he just needs more practice and training. He does not make much noise in the home at all, just little barks when he is trying to initiate play. He also generally does well in the crate, he just whines when he sees someone because he wants to be let out. Trapper is a fantastic young dog who would fit in well with just about any family!
