Meet Tracey

Hello, my name is Tracey. I am a 1.5-year-old Labrador Retriever mix and I currently weigh around 40 pounds. I was rescued from a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia where I was pregnant and heartworm positive. I didn’t know what that meant but I sure did find out! I had 5 puppies in my foster home and we were all very well taken care of. After my puppies were big enough and did not need me anymore, I was able to be spayed and complete my heartworm treatment.

Now that I am healthy and fully cleared, I have some favorite things that I love to do every day. First, I absolutely love tennis balls and pretty much any kind of toy that will fit in my mouth. I will hold them while you give me pets, I will happily look at the camera when you are holding a ball, and I promise I will bring the ball back to you after you throw it. Secondly, I love affection and having my belly rubbed. I would love my belly rubbed at least twice a day but I wouldn’t be mad if it was much more than that. Lastly, I love food and want to try as many new types of snacks and treats as you would have.

I would do great in a home with cats, dogs, and older children since sometimes I forget I am not a lap dog. I also am currently working on my leash, crate, and house training but my foster mom says I am doing amazing. I can’t wait to meet my forever family. Apply to adopt today!

Tracey is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

Given the conditions Tracey originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. At the expense of Home for Good Dog Rescue, Tracey has been treated.

Heartworm disease is a serious and, if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all-year-round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.

**Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org**
