Toto Morkie & Yorkshire Terrier Mix Los Alamitos, CA

Updated 10/9/2020: Toto completed his 2 weeks board and train and is now ready for a new home that can continue helping him practice all of his newly learned skills.
Toto is a male morkie (maltese/yorkie) born 11/7/2018. He is just over 11 lbs and has beautiful silky silver/gold hair. Toto was surrendered to us because he bites, thankfully not super hard but never the less its something that needs to be resolved as it will get worse otherwise. The trainers have evaluated him and found that he has insecurity bases aggression. He quickly becomes possessive of his person and when they walk away or excitement happen, that triggers him to act aggressively to try to control the situation and to keep the person from leaving. He is fine with meeting people on walks and in the home and likes other dogs (as long as they are not too intimidating) but when people start to walk away he gets really amped up/anxious, barks and nipping. He needs to be treated like a big dog, not so much like a lap dog, he needs to work on a "place" command when people come and go as well with lots of praise when he is in his place and timely correction when he reacts with aggression. No children for this boy and smaller households with little commotion where the owners can focus on training would be best. He is young and does need someone with the time/energy for exercise and focus on training and treating him like a little busy terrier rather then an ornamental lap dog. Toto does have some allergies, so both good food and flea control will be important for him long term.
This dog is not available to an out of the area adoption because of difficulty to follow up. If you do not live within a 2 hr drive of Orange County, please do not apply.

This pet is altered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has had a brief temperament evaluation to help us determine what type of a home he/she would thrive in. Please note that we put lots of time and effort to make sure our pets are ready to be someone's perfect pet before they go home.... and to make sure that we will have the best possible match for this pet we do require an : application, interview, adoption fee and in some case a home check.
