Meet Toothless

If you've ever enjoyed the "How to Train Your Dragon" movie, now you know where this distinguished gentleman got his name!

Our German Shepherd "Night Fury" here must have had quite the past before finding us. His teeth have undergone some serious wear and tear, and are almost all worn down to flat surfaces.

But don't worry about Toothless, he's able to eat just fine and shows no lasting issues resulting from this unfortunate occurence.

Like many dogs and most GSDs, Toothless did NOT do well in the shelter. Convinced everyone and everything was a danger to him, he wanted nothing to do with people or other dogs and he acted like it!

Oh, but since coming into foster care, our Toothless has decompressed! He enjoys all the affection and playtime he can get from his foster humans.

Toothless is still not a fan of other dogs, but absolutely LOVES his leashed walks with his foster mom.

Toothless even showed how far he's come since those shelter days on a recent walk when a neighbor's loose dog began racing straight for him and his foster mom. That's always a scary moment for any dog owner.

But he handled himself so well! He sat right next to her and kept his cool while she dealt with the whole situation.

And our formerly-wigged-out shelter boy even shows his gentlemanly self during his vet visits--which are unfortunately still in his future as he is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease.

Toothless is shy and inexperienced with children, so he will do best in a home without them. Once our boy is back to full health (soon!), he would love to find a quiet home with a forever human who wants nothing more than to hang out with him, go for walks, and enjoy all that his second chance at life has to offer.

If you think Toothless might be the one for you, please apply to adopt!
