Renters - Provide a signed copy of their lease stating that dogs are allowed, as well as any restrictions on type/number of dogs or fees/penalties that may apply Understand that Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter (SCCAS) will contact your veterinarian to ensure that they provide quality animal care and reserve the right to investigate further, if issues indicate Guidelines With animal welfare and child safety in mind, SCCAS reserves the right to determine if a family with young children is an appropriate match for the desired animal adoption. Dogs must be provided with regular interactive exercise (walking on a leash, visits to a park, etc.) Chaining a dog in the yard all day, or allowing it to run loose, is not acceptable. No dogs will be adopted for primary use as hunting dogs or guard dogs No dog may be adopted with the intent of giving it as a gift to another person The owner MUST BE THE ADOPTER of record, and approval/denial of the application is based upon their information All dogs adopted will be spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter All family members residing in the home must meet the pet prior to the adoption Should an adoption prove unsuccessful, the animal MUST be returned to SCCAS Refunds on adoption fees are non-refundable An exchange/credit may be allowed, at the discretion of SCCAS If dogs already reside in the home, it is the expectation that they are spayed or neutered unless age, or medical condition make them ineligible at this time.
