9/18/2014: Tommy Boy is a big adorable Great Dane mix pup. He is 7 months old. He’s very friendly and he loves to play. He’s a high energy guy and needs a home with an active person or another dog or two to play with in his new home. Tommy Boy loves playing with other dogs and gets along great with other dogs. However, his curiosity and reaction with cats makes us feel that he needs a home without cats.

Tommy Boy has had some obedience training and enjoys learning. He’s a talker, too! Because he’s energetic and plays rough, and already weighs 65 lbs, he’s too much puppy for a home with small children. He also mouths on people, so needs some work on that. He loves to go for walks.

Tommy Boy has been with us since May. He came in with a serious case of parvo. After he recovered, he continued to have digestive problems and we were taking him to an internist at VCA Mission MedVet to try to figure out what was wrong with him. It turned out to be a lingering condition from the parvo. He’s doing really well now and growing like a weed and putting on weight! And he’s finally ready to find a new home!

Tommy Boy has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
