Meet Tom Brady
Meet Tom Brady AKA Brady. Brady is described as a sweet, happy, friendly bundle of joy with nothing but love to give! His foster mum says he is “…pretty much everything you could want in a puppy. This dog is not only sweet, he's a bit of a rascal and you have to admire his ingenuity! You will never be bored when Brady is on the move.” Brady enjoys playing with his stuffed animals and squeaky toys, as well as going for long walks. He is doing very well with his leash training!
He loves his humans and in exchange for a daily belly rub, he will be your best friend for life. Brady exuberantly greets those he knows and you are sure to be met with kisses and love. He is so excited to see you that he may jump up but is trying hard to learn polite greetings. With new people, especially men, Brady may be momentarily shy but with a calm and gentle approach, he warms up quickly. Brady hasn't had direct contact with children, but given his personality, he’d likely do well with respectful kids old enough to understand dog etiquette.
Brady’s ideal family will live in a more laid back neighborhood and have the time and energy to train a puppy! Sure – he’s cute, but puppies are a lot of work. He would love a home with a fenced yard to run in but as long as he got the exercise he needs, he would be fine without a yard. He may bark at new noises he hears so apartment living my not be for him. Brady is responding well to redirection and positive reinforcement and is learning to stop barking when told “shhh” and to go to his bed.
Brady is generally indifferent toward other dogs and would be fine as the only dog in the house. With proper introductions, he would likely do fine with another well-adjusted dog, but does not like to share his food. He is cat tested and approved!
Brady has the energy of a puppy and requires at least two good walks per day to ensure he gets all of his beans out! He currently enjoys a 30-45 min walk morning and night (weather depending) and he goes outside every 3-4 hours for potty breaks. He’d also appreciate a family who can help to occupy his mind with puzzle toys, learning new tricks and other canine enrichment activities.
Brady is still learning the difference between what is and is not an appropriate chew toy and should be supervised at all time. When not supervised, he should be crated or left in a safe puppy proofed space. He has not yet been left alone but is starting to work on crate training. He is also learning “off” for no jumping up on the counter or table, knows how to sit and he will wait until he is released before eating his dinner. Brady is mostly potty trained and will usually stand by the door when he needs to go out.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Brady’s new family must:
- Be willing to provide consistent potty breaks to ensure his continued success.
- Invest in basic obedience training (proof of enrollment required).
- Ensure plenty of socialization opportunities (both human and dog) as it's critically important at this stage.
