3/10/20: Todd is a super cute 1 year old Boxer/Shepherd mix! He's a friendly and sweet natured guy. He's very playful and pretty high energy. He's smart and knows some obedience commands. He's very food motivated and enjoys learning new things. He'd be a great match for an active person who wants a fun and smart companion.
Todd gets along with most other dogs. He'd do best with another dog if that dog is really playful too -- he would annoy a dog who didn't enjoy playing! If you have a dog you could make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Todd. He's been good with the kids he's met and would probably enjoy older kids in the home; he's probably too physical for young kids.
He wouldn't be a good match for an apartment or other multi-unit housing.
Todd is just about a year old. He currently weighs 50 lbs, and has some filling out to do so will probably weigh around 60 lbs fully grown.
Todd keeps his kennel pretty clean and we think he'll house train fairly easily. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.
Todd was found as a stray and brought to us. Sadly, his paw pads were burned and we think it was from being left on a hot surface like asphalt or concrete. His paws healed up well, though. He's a really great pup!
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
> WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUBMIT AN ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. By submitting an online application, we can process your application more quickly and can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. It also allows us to make arrangements if you’d like to meet a pet in foster care. Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for an adoption application and more information about our adoption process, fees and all that's included. An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements.
> If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.
> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.
