Meet Toby

Toby is a neutered male Pem who was born November 2006. His first owner gave him away because he couldn’t get along with her male dogs. He was given to a home with a larger male dog. After a fight that injured both ears he was very quickly was turned over to rescue. We do have his medical history.

At the foster home he has been living with 2 female dogs. There have been no fights there. Toby does have some food aggression issues with the dogs. They are managed by being dog savvy but rescue recommends that he go to a one dog home. He lived with an infant and a toddler and 5 cats in his first home without incident. He lives with an 8 year old boy in his foster home. He is enjoying the life!! (see photo)

Toby is a long haired Pembroke –called fluffy. He will need to have his hair combed at least 1 time per week. 3 would be better especially behind his ears, his front legs, his belly and his pants. He likes being groomed and behaves well for it. Toby will probably shed less than most Pems because of his type of coat BUT he will need to keep his “fringed” areas well combed out. He may have a flea allergy.

Toby LOVES all people. He really enjoys going for walks. Over all he is playful but not demanding about it. He’s ready to share the couch too. . He knows COME as well as NO and AAAKKK. With coaxing he will SIT on command.

The perfect home for Toby would be one with 1 or 10 people, several cats and zero dogs. Female dogs about his size would be okay if he does not have to prove his dominance. His proper weight is about 32 -34# making him a bigger boy. If you are the right home for him ask his foster about his “foot size”.

Toby is being fostered southeast of Columbus OH.
