Meet Timber

This 11 week old 25.1lb studmuffin is Timber!

Timber has a very confident, curious and steady temperament. When he does experience something new or unsure he bounces back really quickly. He loves to play with his littermates but he is also secure enough to hang out alone. He is definitely one of the higher energy of the litter and he will likely make a great running buddy once he's physically mature. Timber is totally crate trained and knows "sit," "lay down" and "off".

Sounds great, right?! He is! However, Timber has a pushy side too. In foster care he has consistently challenged boundaries that are set by his foster mom. To prevent this confident boy from tipping into entitlement, Timber is seeking a home that will groom his positive attributes - being adventurous, curious and exploratory - while also keeping his pushy side at bay by giving him structure and boundaries within the home setting. If you're looking for a couch potato cuddle-buddy, Timber isn't your guy. But if you're looking for a fun, well balanced pup who's ready to be your sidekick on all your adventures, you've gotta meet this dude. Timber does tend to be on the vocal side and although training can assist in minimizing this, it will take time to get there, so at this time he is not eligible for apartment dwellers due to the shared wall environment.

We don't know what breed(s) dad is - our vet is guessing Mastiff, St. Bernard, American Bulldog, Pit Bull or something else big & blocky. Timber's fosters did get mom DNA tested. The test came back as 40% husky, 13% lab, 12% cattle dog, 8% australian shepherd, 7% border collie, 6% golden retriever, 4% german shepherd, and 10% "supermutt". Mama dog (Sota) has a very sweet and docile temperament and is wonderful with humans of all sizes. She is a gentle, supportive (yet firm) mother to her pups and she tops out at 45lbs. We are expecting the pups to top out at about 50-90lbs when full grown.

Sota and her litter are with one of our puppy raisers who has been using Dr. Sophia Yin's puppy socialization checklist* with Caffrey. This means the pups have been receiving frequent, positive interactions with new people, new animals, and other new stimuli.

Although some of an adult dog's behavior is a result of genetics, it is important for dogs to have frequent, regular positive interactions for desensitization and socialization through maturity. At this age, Caffrey is experiencing her first fear period and still in the socialization window. To ensure she continues to receive socialization and enrichment opportunities under the guidance of a professional and in a safe setting, at the time of adoption adopters for pups of this litter will be required to show proof of a puppy socialization class enrollment with any licensed trainer.

Thank you so much for checking out our adventurous boy, Timber; we hope we can welcome you into the Pet Haven family of adopters, soon!
