Meet Tico ADOPTED:)
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.
Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html
Tico is a 7-year young handsome Chihuahua mix who is looking for a person or family to call his own. Tico has been loved and well-cared for.
Unfortunately, his mom in Waterloo, Iowa, has encountered health challenges and is unable to provide the care and activity he needs. Tico is a Waverly Pet Rescue dog now and lives in a foster home.
Characteristics: Sweet-boy, happy, enjoys to do zoomies so a fenced yard would be great, enjoys attention and loves to snuggle on your lap.
Coat Length: Short
Size: Small
Potty Trained: Yes, but needs a regular routine
Healthy, neutered, vaccinations up to date
Good in a home with other dogs, older children, it is not known how he does with cats, may be timid to new places and people and it may take him a
while to warm up to men. Tico may need a refresher on walking on a leash,
basic commands, and to re-establish a routine. He is terrified to go to a vet office and will act very aggressive there. Must be something from his past, we do not know why he acts this way.
11/4/23 Tico has been in his foster home for one week now. Tico is a sweet happy boy. I don’t think he was allowed on the furniture at his last home. He will not jump up. He will stand there and allow you to pick him up, but will not jump.
He is better now, but at first once he was up there he was stiff as a board, but still loved all the pets and cuddles he was getting. He is less stressed now when he is sitting with us, but still will not jump up on his own.
Tico loves to cuddle! He has had absolutely no accidents in the house, or lifting his leg issues. We’ve been working on getting him crate trained at night and he’s been progressing well. He is a bit food finicky, but is getting better with that as well. he is an absolute love bug and wants nothing more than and cuddles. Oh, and he has learned how to use a doggie door!
Will someone please adopt Tico and give him a forever home? $165.00 adoption fee.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
