Thelma's Story
Thelma (orange) and Louise (tri) are 10 month old spunky sisters. These girls were surrendered to a KS shelter and quickly rescued by SWESR. They are now in separate foster homes in Texas. Thelma is in San Antonio. They are doing great with people and other dogs. We are not placing them together. At 10 months old, they fall under our puppy policy and we will require they go to homes with physical fencing and setter (or setter-like breed experience).

Both girls love to run and play, get along well with their people and other dogs. We do not know about cats. Their foster homes say that they crate well at night, are happy and very active. They are catching on with house training, but will need consistent training/supervision in their new homes. They both LOVE toys and we consider them toy and food motivated! Thelma’s foster says she loves to cuddle after play time and was not afraid to see what was so cool about the sofa! Louise’s foster says she hardly stays still long enough to cuddle, but she really enjoys affection. Thelma and Louise are just wonderful young English Setters.

Both girls will require ongoing training to continue house manners and to help discourage puppy play biting/nipping. Puppy obedience is recommended to help each one bond with their new families and to learn basic skills. Thelma and Louise still play bite/nip and are not ‘graceful’ when running/playing and could easily knock small children down. We are recommending them for homes with older children. They both have TONS of energy and will need other dogs to play with and/ or a large yard to exercise off all that puppy energy!

See more pictures of these beauties on their bio pages on the SWESR website:

http://www.swesr.org/Available_Dogs/Thelma.htm

http://www.swesr.org/Available_Dogs/Louise.html

For an application to adopt or for more information about Southwest English Setter Rescue including our adoption requirements and transport availability, please go to http://www.swesr.org/.
