UPDATE by Doggie Date Volunteer - February 1
"My husband and I took Tesla for a doggy play date this afternoon and completely fell in love .. as did everyone else who met her. We forgot to bring treats with us so we took Tesla to our favourite local doggy store. While there Tesla encountered various people + kids and other big dogs .. her reaction to being in a potentially high-stress environment full of new things .. was sheer happiness. She loved everyone she met today including the lovely couple we met upon our playdate return. Besides being beautiful and super photogenic, Tesla is a very well behaved girl who is eager to please and play. She knows a variety of basic commands (sit, down, stay, high five / Shake a paw) but needs some more work on mastering them. It was also very easy to redirect her focus with a little beef jerky. We know she’ll be in her forever home soon, congrats Tesla!"
UPDATE by Doggie Date Volunteer - January 17
"Tesla really warmed up to me on the second doggy date we had. She loved to snuggle beside me chewing on her bone or squeaking her toy she picked out at Pet Value. She impressed the Pet Value staff with how well she followed commands for treats and won them over with her cuteness.
She is such a happy animal especially when she gets her treats, cuddles and is able to run around the yard playing with her toys. She also loves her walks and car rides.
We really worked on house training her this time and I feel she is pretty much house trained now letting me know when she needs to go outside. No more accidents!
She was much easier to handle and I found her less jumpy as she had been with the first visit.
Overall a really nice doggy date which I think we both enjoyed.
If it wasn’t for my crazy work schedule I would have kept her. Such a fun girl with loads of energy.
I hope she gets adopted very soon! I think she is ready for her forever home."

Come Meet Our Adoptable Dogs...
Winnipeg Animal Services Agency
1057 Logan Avenue
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Phone: 311 - outside Winnipeg dial 1-877-311-4974
Our hours for adoption are Monday to Friday from 11:00 am - 5:30 pm
Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 pm - 4:30pm.
Animal Services is closed on statutory holidays.
Almost all the dogs at Animal Services are picked up as strays running loose on the streets of Winnipeg and therefore they come to us with no known history. For this reason, we are not sure how they will interact with other dogs, cats or how they are with children. We would suggest that if you have younger children you bring them down with you to meet the dogs. We also have an outdoor play area where we can do introductions with any other dogs that live in the home.
All locally adopted dogs come with a 7 day home trial. If you return the dog within this time period, you will be refunded your adoption fee less the non-refundable deposit.
Please feel free to meet all the dogs and puppies outside of their kennels, just let the kennel attendants know that you would like a meet and greet with the dog outside of his pen. The dogs are much more relaxed when outside of their kennels. They would love to meet you!
