Meet Teddy Swims – a gentle, grateful soul who’s ready for his next chapter. Teddy is a 10-year-old, 16-pound spaniel mix who has overcome so much and come out shining. After a tough battle with pneumonia, he’s now healthy, happy, and showing us just what a special boy he is. Teddy is incredibly easygoing and calm, with a quiet, peaceful presence that instantly makes a home feel complete. Even when he was sick and being poked, prodded, and treated by the vet, Teddy never showed a single ounce of aggression. He is as gentle as they come—patient, trusting, and forgiving. It’s clear he probably wasn’t loved much before rescue, but his sweet nature and resilience speak volumes. He truly just wants to belong. Teddy is still a little hand-shy at first, but give him time and kindness, and he’ll be in your lap before you know it. He loves to nap near you, sleep in the same room, and rest his head close by. He’s affectionate in quiet ways and adores calm companionship. This boy rides beautifully in the car, enjoys short, steady walks several times a day, and would happily join you for outdoor time. He even gets playful in spurts and loves to chase squirrels in the yard. He’s great with kids, friendly dogs, and would make a wonderful second dog. Teddy is house trained, low shedding, and only needs light brushing to keep his soft coat in shape. Our dogs are in foster homes all over the Bay Area and all adopters are required to travel to the foster home to meet. We do not have a facility. No meet and greet can happen until application is completed. Thank you for reading about our awesome dogs. All dogs came to us from different situations and we often do not know much about their past, but they are rescue dogs who deserve a second chance and need patience on their journey. All of our dogs our are in foster homes all across the bay area. The first step of the process is you must submit an application in order to set up a meet and great or talk with the foster family. Once application is submitted the foster parents will contact you to chat more about the dog and make sure they're a good fit and can answer any further question. The application answers most of all of our questions and can best match you. If you do not get the dog you apply for we can use your same application for 90 days towards another dog in our care and simply forward your app to that foster parent. **Reminder we are all volunteers working hard to save these dogs, some dogs may receive 20+ application to all be reviewed. We do our best to respond to all apps as we can. Since our start in 2014, we have built an outstanding team and have grown into a strong network of volunteers dedicated to saving the Underdogs in our shelters and community. We have dedicated our efforts to giving a second chance to the dogs that are most in need (medically or behaviorally) and the dogs that have been overlooked for too long. As a foster based rescue, Underdog places dogs in temporary foster homes where they can decompress and get the love and affection that they need. Dogs are also vaccinated, spayed/neutered and receive any other medical treatment needed before finding their forever home. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. This is why we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate.
