Meet Teddy R. Bear

FOSTERED IN: Tinley Park, IL
ESTIMATED DOB: 2012
WEIGHT: 7lbs
KIDS: 16+
DOGS: Possible
CATS: Unknown

HISTORY:
Teddy R Bear came to us from an animal control facility, he was a stray.

ABOUT:
Teddy R Bear spent 9 months in a shelter, so he is slowly remembering how to be a house pet. He was pretty scared his first day with his foster and wouldn’t leave his carrier, but day by day Teddy R Bear is getting braver and more comfortable and confident. He will need a patient adopter who will give him the time and understanding he needs as he reintegrates into household life. Teddy R Bear’s first breakthrough was when his foster mom brought home a stuffed squeaky toy for him. He was soooo excited. He also lives for attention, once he is comfortable enough to allow it. You can pet him with your hands or your feet, he isn’t picky. Teddy R Bear hasn’t attempted to get on any furniture as yet, and he sleeps in a dog bed next to his foster mom’s bed. He has also been excellent about going potty outside. Teddy R Bear can be a timid guy who is easily overwhelmed so he will be best in a home with children 16+ who are able to understand his needs. Occasionally when startled or overwhelmed Teddy may snap to indicate he is not comfortable. Teddy R Bear has not met any other dogs while in Lulu’s care. Sometimes he barks at dogs on leash, and sometimes he doesn’t, but he often tries to engage his foster mom in play so she thinks he might enjoy a playful canine friend. His interactions with cats are unknown. Teddy R Bear’s best home will be calm, quiet, and consistent. Overall he is a pretty quiet guy and is successfully being fostered in a condo, but he does like to bark at people who walk by on the sidewalk for recreation. His foster said his bark is fairly quiet, and she thinks this could be remedied by closing the blinds if it was a concern.
