Teak was found as a stray in SC and transported to MD. He has settled in nicely with his foster mom....and he is a real CUDDLE BUG! He is so very sweet, and wants nothing more than to be by your side getting all the pets and covering you with kisses. He is very intelligent & curious.....if he hears you sneeze or cough, he comes right over to investigate & make sure you're ok. He also really likes chewing on his bone, and watching dogs on TV!
He plays really well with his foster sibling...a female dog around his age & size. He has been friendly with all other dogs he has met so far. He does currently live with 2 cats, and he has shown no aggression toward them through the baby gate, but he is too interested and will try to chase, so he is best for a home without cats.
Teak is great with new people (inside the home and out) and seems to be fine around children age 4+. He does tend to get excited and will sometimes jump, but this will improve over time with training. He is getting good at sit and down, and we are working on other basic manners such as come, stay and leave it. Very intelligent boy....and he will do practically anything for a treat!! He is extremely food motivated and will rush to grab any food he can reach.
He does need practice on the leash as he gets excited & likes to pull when he sees other moving things like squirrels, dogs, people or cars. He's improving every day with his potty-training, and he is crate-trained. He is pretty quiet, and only barks when he's outside & sees people approaching his yard.
This boy will make such a wonderful best friend for someone very lucky!
4/14/21: Foster will be introducing Teak to some new people, dogs and children in the coming weeks, so look for updates.
4/3/21: Teak has arrived at his foster, and he is VERY timid, but sweet. We are giving him time to decompress so he can relax and let his true personality shine! He was also just neutered on 4/1, so he will need time to recuperate before embarking on any adventures away from his foster home. Will update soon.
4/1/21: Sweet Teak was a stray and absolutely petrified when brought into the shelter. Our hearts just melted when we saw him hiding under his shelter bed with tail wagging furiously......on Friday 4/2 he will board a transport van and head to a new life with a foster in MD until we find an adopter that will love him forever. Teak, we can't wait to meet you :-)
