Meet Tater Tot - I have a flaw!

Tater Tot is a very special boy and we hope that you will read his story! Tater Tot ended up at the Moreno Valley Shelter where no one came looking for him. He had a sustained injury to his elbow, and later, our orthopedic surgeon stated that an old injury; i.e., a dislocated elbow would not have a good prognosis for repair so unfortunately Tater Tot had to have an amputation. So Tater Tot has three legs! And we KNOW that that is not a reason why sweet Tater cannot find a loving and forever home! Please read on!
Tater Tot appears to be a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He weighs about 11 lbs. and is age two. His personality is basically sweet and quiet and he has a gentle soul. I really like him in that he also has a bit of an independent side, whereby he does not always have to be glued to me and he can go over to the human bed and chill on there, or on one of the pet beds on the porch to sun himself. However, he also loves to be close to my side and follow me too, wagging his tail always! He enjoys being part of the pack, and he gets along with all dogs, however, prefers the less active, less playful types and seems to relish in being an old soul hanging next to the chill, older dogs, even though he is still so young himself. He is always part of a bunch of dogs on the same pet bed. In short, he seems to prefer a calmer environment, though does have a bit of a playful side with people.
Tater Tot is a very happy boy! He has good mobility, and being a small dog, having only three legs is really not an issue (you should see him leap up onto the human bed!) though he should be adopted primarily as a companion dog, and obviously not an exercise dog. His surgery site is all healed; however, the hair in that area is still growing back in. He is quite potty-trained (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and also crate-trained but he prefers if his little sleeping crate is near me. He also chills very nicely on the human bed during the day, but for nighttime sleeping, we try to teach dogs to be fine in crates. He loves his little rawhide stick as a bedtime snack and happily runs into his little crate to get it!
You can tell that Tater Tot wants to be someone’s special boy. This does not mean spoil him or not teach him guidelines, but yet and still, he is a sensitive dog who longs for a special bond with his human. We hope to find someone who has a kind heart and will not mind that Tater Tot is not “perfect.” We think his personality is stellar! He is a joy for this rescuer to have around and he has never been a problem whatsoever. (NOTE: All adopted dogs must be primarily indoor dogs, with outdoor access for play, potty - No dog can be excluded or left primarily to an outdoor area.) So if you are looking for a gentle soul to be your constant companion, or a companion to your already existing dog, Tater Tot may be your guy! Please contact me to discuss Tater Tot further! To me, he is a keeper, but obviously, I am not in this business to keep all of the dogs, but he is truly one of my favs! Who will open their heart to Tater Tot? ?
Tater Tot is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped.
