Tank is a sweet love bug seeking low-stimulation home and a human to cuddle.

Check him out in action here: https://youtu.be/iI-IILB4sL8

Tank was living outside in a pen before ACDRA rescued him and he’s already doing great in the house. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and has good manners overall. He’s a little leery of new people that come to the house but warms up quickly with treats, going at his pace, and ignoring him until he is comfortable. Tank's future human will need to be dedicated to keeping him comfortable when meeting new people. And due to his strong herding drive and his worries about meeting new people, Tank would not do best in a home with children. Since strangers can be a bit scary to him, a home in a quieter neighborhood would be ideal-a busy town or city would be too much for him.

His favorite pastime is playing with a ball (inside and outside) or just following his person around – he is super velcro and doesn’t want to leave your side! Tank looks like he’s smiling all the time and walks with the cutest little bounce in his step.

Tank's initial introductions can be a bit ruff around the edges-he just isn't sure about other dogs' intentions, but once he realizes the other dog is safe, he gets along well with most dogs and is mostly indifferent. While Tank could live in a home with other neutral or friendly dogs, he would not be the best playmate; he’d rather herd them than play! This could change as he learns more about dog-play. We have seen him play on a few occasions, although his play style is a bit silly and odd and includes a lot of bouncing back and forth at the other dog. Tank will likely never be a good candidate for dog parks or doggie playgroups, but that's ok-he just wants his cuddles with humans and to play with toys and he's happy as a clam!

At 3 years old, Tank may have missed some important socialization that comes along with living in an outdoor pen. He walks well on a leash, but can be reactive to other dogs when on leash or in his yard. We won't play it down-he can be quite vocal when seeing dogs on leash or from behind a barrier so he’ll need some work on this. He loves walks in nature such as hiking or exploring valleys which is a more peaceful experience for him. If you enjoy walks in nature void of seeing other dogs more than neighborhood walks on a short leash, that would be Tank's best match! He would also be content with playtime in the yard to get his energy out-he does not need an excessive amount of exercise and can be a downright couch potato some days. However, it would be easiest for him to have a yard that is private so he doesn't have to worry about passing dogs.

Tank is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He’s ready for adoption! We don’t know how he is with cats, so he’ll need a cat-free home. If you’re interested in Tank and can come meet him in Southampton, PA, please fill out an application at ACDRA.org.
