Tank (2) American Staffordshire Terrier & Schipperke Mix Madison, WI

Tank is an absolute ham. He didn't even know his name when he got here 4 weeks ago. He has learned his name and several commands since then. He comes when called, and most of the time will give a polite sit as soon as he gets to you. He knows sit well, and out (of the babies room), kennel, and, of course, no, which he gets told a lot. He listens to "no" very well, though, and usually tries to kiss you to say sorry. At just over a year old, he is still very much a puppy. When he gets super excited, he reverts back to the bad habits that he had when he got here, and nibbles on my arm. (Like when I am trying to get my boots on to go for a walk.) After I make him stop the nibbling on my arm he starts bouncing like a kangaroo. I have been too busy laughing at his dorkness, that I have not corrected that behavior. He walks great on a leash, and on our walks, he comes as soon as he is called. He has seen a bunny a couple of times, and does act like he would like to get it, but after a little coaxing, will "leave it" and come back to walking down the trail. He has never marked anything in our heated basement, and it has furniture that has been marked by other dogs. He has never had an accident, and can hold it at least 9 hours. He loves toys, and is very good at destroying them. He has never had an issue with anything. I can take anything out of his mouth at any time, toys, food, etc. He adores children, again, because I think that they are at the perfect kissing height. He is a super smart boy, and super loving. He has made everyone he has met fall in love with him. He will have you wrapped up in his heart faster than you can imagine. He deserves to have a family to call his own.

The Adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dogs and their human companions. The adoption process starts with a prescreen review of an Guardian Application. Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an art not a science and there will be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the MAPS after reviewing relevant information. MAPS reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is no guarantee that any applicant(s) requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPS, or posted on MAP's web site, will be granted an adoption. After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant's home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love !
