Meet Takoda

Takoda is 8 years old and weighs a mere 110 pounds.

When I see pictures of myself I cannot help but admire them. I am simply stunning - those floppy ears, elegant tail and sleek 110 pounds of muscles! My favorite activity is to lay peacefully on the couch and stare out the window fantasizing about all the adventures that are out there. Ah to partake, but just imagining is so much easier.

Relaxing in the sun is high on my list of great activities too. Nothing like that heat coursing through the muscles and warming up the fur to bring a smile to my face. I am partial to back scratches and playing in the backyard too. My human says I am a big love bug (a very big bug!) and crave attention and love. Well who wouldn't? Right?

I do have a few medical issues that need attending to, but I do just fine on my meds. I have Addisons, but take daily and monthly pills to control it. I also have to take daily pills for nighttime incontinence. It's totally controlled by meds though, so it's nothing to worry about.

Although I am a love bug with big and little people (though a wee bit timid at first meetings), I am not predictable with other dogs. I have been diagnosed by a dog trainer with fear-based aggression. That is, I am afraid of other dogs, despite my size. I react by being growly and barky so they stay away from me. My motto is the best offense is a good defense. I would definitely do best as the only animal in the house - unless you have fish or birds. They're cool. If you have a fenced backyard, then I'm your gal.

I am well-behaved otherwise and know lots of commands we can use together such as: SIT, STAND, DOWN, BOW (if you are royalty), SHAKE and SPEAK.
What say you that we try out a few together. We'll start with BOW - hahaha.

INTERESTED in TAKODA? The first step is to fill out our online Adoption Application (address link below)

NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes so it is not possible to setup a meet and greet prior to submitting an adoption application. Filling out an application doesn't obligate you to adopt, but it does save your place in line if there are multiple people interested.

ADOPTION APPLICATION (Type or cut & paste the below website address into your browser): http://www.sdroregon.com/adoption-application.htm

If our Adoption Coordinator determines you are a good match they will contact you. This is a great opportunity for you to find out more about TAKODA and decide if you would like to setup a meet and greet.

ADOPTION FEE is $150, and there’s a 10% Discount for Senior Citizens and Veterans.

Learn more about the ADOPTION PROCESS here (Type or cut & paste the below website address into your browser): http://www.sdroregon.com/adoption-process.htm

We apologize, but we are not able to answer individual questions about our dogs. We are a small, all-volunteer organization and we receive hundreds of inquiries. If you want to learn more about a particular dog, then please submit an Adoption Application. If your application is chosen, you will have the opportunity to meet the dog and to get answers to all of your questions. Thank you for your understanding.
