Taffy Husky Mix Jefferson City, MO

Taffy is a survivor! Little did we know when she arrived, her body was being attacked by not only ehrlichiosis, but also cocciodomycosis, both deadly if not diagnosed and treated. Taffy received meds for ehrlichiosis, and has been receiving meds for the fungal disease for 6 months. Prayers have been answered and her fungal test is now negative!!!! It's been a long road with lots of tears and frustration. We thought we were losing her at one point. But Taffy is a fighter!!!! And then Taffy had one more blow. We learned she was blind in one eye, when she kept showing signs of infection that would clear up and then return.. The vet doesn’t know when she lost her sight. He doesn’t even know exactly why. He suggested starting over with diagnostics/testing to rule anything out, but her eye was of no use and was the source of her pain. The best course of action was removal of her eye. She has bounced right back after surgery once again, and she is doing great! She has some quirks, and what I think are playful vocalizations, and don’t necessarily sound playful. Sky and I walk by Taffy to go outside. We walk past Taffy’s toys. They go in and out together. They walk together. They do get playful, and Sky jumps on her head lol. There have been a few moments, but Taffy is one of the most correctable dogs I’ve ever worked with. She’s totally manageable with another dog. She’s really good with my dogs, but she’s been here 6 months and it was super slow intros since Taffy was so sick. I think she would do fine with another dog if you’re willing to manage it. A calm submissive male would be ideal. Taffy has absolutely earned a comfortable home.
