Meet Sylvia - Overlooked Adoptable/Reduced Adoption Fee
Sylvia starts her day by catching up on the events of the family. She follows her
people around the home from sun up to sun down. Sylvia also enjoys a good round of play to keep her mind sharp, whether following a scent or playing tug. After play and catching up on family events, she will enjoy a nap in the sunshine, snuggled up next to her people.
Sylvia is not the young whippersnapper she once was. With age have come patience and calm, but also some physical challenges. Sylvia has chronic pain issues due to previously untreated broken legs. As a result, she is on daily pain meds (Gabapentin, $7 per month average; and Carprofin, $25 per month average) that help her with resulting inflammation as well. A previously botched spay surgery has left her incontinent with urinary tract issues which means she will be using her own version of Depends (aka washable doggy diapers) and an incontinence medication to keep her comfortable (Proin $8 per month average). Sylvia’s medical concerns may also result in regular trips to the vet for diagnostics, antibiotics, and additional vet care to keep her healthy and happy. All told, her medications average out to $1.33 per day. Though this daily routine may seem daunting, it is no more difficult than setting aside morning and evening meds to administer prior to meals, and adding a few extra underwear to your laundry.
Sylvia refuses to let her physical ailments define her, which makes her both her best advocate and worst enemy. Her worst enemy in that she will often push the limits of what she should be doing in her condition. She will try to jump in the car, walk those extra few blocks, or sprint to get the squirrel in the yard.
Sylvia still seeks to enjoy all that she has in the past, sometimes going a bit gung ho in trying to re-create her youth. To reduce temptation, she should be in a home with minimal stairs. At the same time, she is also her best advocate by keeping her sunny disposition intact despite the weather or season, as long as she has her loving humans by her side.
Sylvia’s ideal retirement home is a quiet one, without other dogs, or cats. She loves to be the center of attention and will gladly find the best qualities in any dog-savvy adult company she keeps.
Sylvia is a sweet, loyal and gentle girl looking for the best place to enjoy her golden years. Her special people or person will need to have patience, understanding and devotion to provide Sylvia her best life. Sylvia may be getting more grey fur, but don’t count out this old girl just yet! Because we feel Sylvia is a rare gem, we have reduced her adoption fee to $20.20 in hopes that she finds her perfect home. Are you the one to provide some tender loving care to this sweet grandma?
Her $20.20 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.
Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
