Sylvia - Overlooked Adoptable/Reduced Adoption Fee German Shorthaired Pointer Mix Minneapolis, MN

Sylvia is an 8-year old German Shorthair Pointer looking for the best retirement, and forever, home to spend her golden years. She has been through more than anyone (human or dog) should go through. She was a puppy mill Mama and after she was not needed anymore, she was abandoned in a field. She has some pain issues due to untreated broken legs but this is managed through medication also as a result of her being a Mama several times over, she has incontinence issues. But these challenges don't stop her big smile, warm heart, and generous nature!

Sylvia is not the young whippersnapper she once was. With age have come patience and calm, but also some physical challenges but Sylvia refuses to let her physical ailments define her, which makes her both her best advocate and worst enemy. She will often push the limits of what she should be doing in her condition. She will try to jump in the car, walk those extra few blocks, or sprint to get the squirrel in the yard.

Sylvia still seeks to enjoy all that she has in the past, sometimes going a bit gung ho in trying to re-create her youth. To reduce temptation, she should be in a home with minimal stairs. At the same time, she is also her best advocate by keeping her sunny disposition intact despite the weather or season, as long as she has her loving humans by her side.

Sylvia’s ideal retirement home is a quiet one, with proper introductions she is fine with other dogs (loves puppies!) but cats are a no. She loves to be the center of attention and will gladly find the best qualities in any dog-savvy adult company she keeps.

Sylvia loves people and is very loyal. She follows her foster family around the home from sun up to sundown. She also enjoys a good round of play to keep her mind sharp, whether following a scent or playing tug. After her playtime, she will enjoy a nap in the sunshine, but the best is being snuggled up next to her people.

Sylvia visits the Dakotah Doggies Day Care and Hotel when her foster parents need to go out of town. She is a staff and patron favorite. She gets along well with the other visiting dogs in playgroup and takes the young pups under her wing. Her years of being a Momma show! Below is what the staff have to say about Sylvia!

"We here at Dakotah Doggy Daycare Hotel & Spa, have had the pleasure of getting to know Sylvia while she has stayed with us every few weeks for the last 2 months. You would never know what Sylvia went through because Sylvia maybe 8 years old with some health issues, but she has the heart and spirit of a 3-year-old. Sylvia is also very well behaved and does what is asked of her; whether it is to come, sit, kennel up, or go outside. Sylvia loves to nap in the sun, be around humans, goes gaga over food, loves playing with bubbles and enjoys being with other dogs in the group. It doesn’t matter where Sylvia is, she loves snuggle time with anyone, she is so loving and sweet that it’s impossible not to snuggle with her when you have the chance."

Her $20.20 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.
