Meet Syd - Sanctuary dog
PUPDATE 26 April 2019: Yes, Syd is still here. Sadly, the experience she went through while in placement have made her difficult to rehome, so she will remain here until the perfect human for her is found.
Syd is truly afraid of children and strangers. While she is lovely with people that she knows, she is fearful of the unknown and is pro-active in her reactive behaviour to protect herself. While we have found her to be easy to manage, her people must be diligent and advocate for her.
Syd's perfect home would be a woman who loves to train and enjoys having her dog with her a lot. She would have a fenced yard and an outdoor kennel for when her person is away. Syd would LOVE to be an on-leash hiking partner and would truly thrive being part of a small pack and enjoying her people.
PUPDATE 19 May 2017: Syd had been adopted, and was returned to us, as she was not managed appropriately in her home, and she became reactive to people entering the home. On return to the farm, we have worked with her and found that she quickly returned to appropriate behaviour when managed appropriately. Syd is currently in 'board and train' with our trainer on grounds.
Syd will do best in a calm, multi-dog home that is interested in classes and continued learning for their dogs.
There's not much Syd couldn't do with the right person to partner with. She is currently picking up agility like a pro, and is eager to learn. Sid will do best in a home with another dog, and a human willing to fill her head with stuff. Syd needs moderate exercise to be happy here, though she does have other dogs to play with.
Please read our procedures prior to making inquiry regarding this dog.
Please go to our main website at www.mabcr.org for more information regarding the adoption of this or any dog from our rescue.
Please note that while this dog is currently available, any dog on our site may have an adoption pending and may not be available to you at this time. The same dog may later become available if the adoption falls through.
Our website www.mabcr.org will give you details on our adoption procedures as well as an application for adoption. An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.
Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.
Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.
To assist any dog within the MABCR organization, please consider making a donation to the general fund or to the medical fund. All dogs coming into our rescue are fully vetted (s/n and innoculations) prior to adoption.
Rescuing animals is quite expensive. If you are unable to adopt, but would like to help this, or any other animal in our system, please consider a sponsorship donation.
For information on our sponsorship program, please contact Sarah at SLR@mabcr.org.
