Meet Suzy Sunshine
Suzy is intelligent, playful and affectionate. She loves to go for walks, and she's good on a leash. She LOVES all people and other dogs.
Suzy was picked up by Animal Control in GA and brought to a high kill shelter, where she was scheduled to be euthanized. But one of our wonderful partner shelters in GA intercepted and saved her life. We saw her photo and her story on Facebook, and knew that she needed our help in finding her forever family! (see the additional information below)
She is now at our shelter in NH, and excited about the prospect of having REAL home! She's confident, absolutely wonderful people, and she's SUPER friendly toward other dogs.
Suzy is about 3 years old, and she weighs 50 lbs. She is spayed, has all her required vaccines, and is microchipped.

Want to know more about this beautiful girl? Read on - this is her story from the shelter in GA where she spent the last 6 months...
THE GOOD,THE BAD AND THE DOWNRIGHT UGLY
First the GOOD....Suzy Sunshine is a truly wonderful girl. Everyone loves Suzy and she is the first dog that the volunteers turn to when they need to know how new dogs to the shelter are with other dogs. Three year old Suzy is a lover of all dogs and is very easy going and sweet. Suzy is also house trained, crate trained and she adores rides in the car. We simply cannot believe that this wonderful dog has been in the shelter for six long months... she is a treasure. She walks extremely well on leash and moves her 49 pound body effortlessly beside her handlers.. she is very in tune with her humans. Since being at the shelter Suzy has been no problem for anyone in any way shape or form... but one morning the BAD hit and it scared the staff and volunteers.
Overnight, Suzy's neck swelled up causing her some distress so she was rushed to the vet where she stayed for a few days. Suzy was taken into surgery where something was removed and when she returned to the shelter she had stitches and a gap where a drain was inserted. We wanted to help Suzy by posting her here where her Rescue Army could help her as they have helped so many other dogs in need so we did ask when her lab work would be back...
Now here comes the UGLY: To our surprise, we were informed that nothing had been sent to a lab for diagnostics. So sweet Suzy Sunshine went to the vet we work with where her surgical site was debrided - some tissue samples were taken out and sent to the lab...everything came back clear. We'll never know what was removed during that first surgery and worse yet we'll never know what could have been discovered. What we do know is that our sweeter than sweet girl is thriving and healthy and happy and that makes us happy. Suzy is a very special girl put in harms way, it seems, by friendly fire
Please help us to help Suzy...through all of this she has never lost her smile... she has never lost her faith in her people and she has never missed a step. She carries on helping her beloved volunteers by dog testing those new whipper snapper arrivals to animal control. Suzy just keeps her face turned toward the sunshine and leads them out for a walk with a smile. We can learn a lot from this wonderful soul - she deserves everything...
