Meet Susy

**TONIGHT! Oprah Winfrey will sit down with Susy Z. Dog for an exclusive television interview**

Oprah: Susy, so I've heard you have been at Old Dominion since late July. Tell me how that makes you feel.
Susy: Well, Oprah, for the first two months I was filming for the TEEN MOM show, so I wasn't even available for the public to see. Now my puppies are all weaned and adopted, so actually, I have only been looking for my forever home since early October.

Oprah: Give the audience some basic info on you. I bet they would be surprised to hear you are a Puerto Rican native.
Susy: Yes, I was born and raised in sunny and warm Puerto Rico. PR is a place with very little spay/neuter, so their overpopulation of animals is even worse than the US. I am about 20lbs and 1.5 years old. I have the softest, dark brown fur (just picture a Hershey's Special Dark chocolate treat).

Oprah: So what are you looking for in a forever family?
Susy: I would love an active owner. I like to do long hikes every few weeks and I do about 2 miles a day of walking to keep in shape. In October, I hiked 13 miles to the highest peak in Virginia and that was so fun! I could have done more, but the humans were a little exhausted.

Oprah: What is your relationship with other dogs and kids?
Susy: I like other dogs as long as they aren't in my face and personal space all the time. If they are active like me, we would likely make a good pair. If you don't have other dogs, I'd love to be your one and only too. I am very loyal and loving to my person. If you have a kid who would want to be active with me, like say 10 or above, then I would really bond with that person too. Smaller kids would probably take the attention away from me and I would be sad.

Oprah: What are your house manners like?
Susy: I have free reign in my foster home (with 4 other dogs) and I am not a destructive girl. I do sleep all night long, but during the day I am used to a potty break about every 3-4 hours. Sometimes I get distracted and forget why I am outside, so be sure to verify that I do my business before letting me back in. If I get overly excited to see people, just tell me "off" or "four paws" and that reminds me to sit before I get loving.

Oprah: Susy, I have loved talking to you today. You seem like the perfect dog for most any home. You have been overlooked for too long, but I know in my heart that someone in the TV audience is going to hear this interview, and come meet and adopt you soon.
Susy: Thank you, Oprah. I appreciate your time in promoting rescue dogs like me, that don't find a home right away. I may have been a TEEN MOM in my past, but my future is limitless. Mt. Everest, here I come!

Adoption donations are $250 for an adult, $350 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $125 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). All dogs are spay/neutered, have rabies, distemper vaccine, microchip, heartworm test if age appropriate, and are current on heartworm preventative. Adoption donations are accepted via cash or debit/credit card. There is a $5 fee to run a card.

Please remember to bring a collar and leash with you the day of the adoption.

Fill out an application online prior to arriving to our adoption event. This greatly speeds up the adoption process and will ensure that the animal you are interested in will be at the event. Not all adoptable dogs can make it to all events, because they are cared for in foster homes. Our adoption events are most Wednesday’s from 5-7pm and each Saturday from Noon until 4 PM on Saturday’s at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 102, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. There are circumstances that we will not have an adoption event, so please email or check our Facebook prior to coming to ensure we will be open.

We do receive HUNDREDS of emails daily. The fastest way to get a response is to fill out an application on our website, NOT by submitting an inquiry. Online applications get priority over applications filled out in person.

Visit our website for an application to adopt.
