Meet Sunny! Sunny is described as goofy and loving girl with the cutest happy grunts. She leaps for love and when she's not moving she loves to be nuzzled in next to you! She snores before she's fully asleep and has the most beautiful blond eyelashes and cutest swirls on her bum. She loves to play with her squeaky toys, ropes, stuffies and socks she can find lying around. With her trusted humans she is a snugly girl that loves to give hugs and curl up close. When meeting new people indoors, she is always very excited to make a new friend and will greet them with kisses and playful leaps. Outside she is a bit more cautious however with proper introductions, she will accept pets and greetings
Sunny’s ideal family will live in a house and although she would love a fenced yard to run in, provided she receives the exercise she needs, she could do without. Sunny would be happy to have another well-adjusted dog sibling provided they have nice manners, and can be trusted with a dog savvy cat. She can be nervous of dogs who do not respect her space. Sunny is gentle but would do best with older, calm children who understand dog etiquette.
Sunny is medium energy and currently enjoys 20-30 min walk in the morning, 45 min after work as well as potty breaks. Leash walking is new to Sunny and her new family should be prepared to help her along with her skills. She does pull and is very interested in birds and squirrels. She will also need help with polite introductions to new dogs as she may growl at some she meets on the street. She is currently learning some basic obedience skill and knows sit and come, and she is working on stay and lie down.
When Sunny’s family goes out, she is crated for up to 5 hours, settling with a Kong. If she knows you are still in the house though she may cry or bark. Sunny is perfecting her Houdini skills and has been known to escape her wire crate and so a plastic crate is recommended. She can also leap over barriers such as a baby gate and so she would need to be in a puppy proofed room if not crated. Provided she receives consistent potty breaks, Sunny is also house trained but he new family should be prepared for an adjustment period.
Sunny was found on a road in Kathmandu, Nepal abandoned by her family. The locals believe she was hit by a police man and as a result had an infected left eye. It was eventually treated however unfortunately she did lose sight in the left eye. She still has full vision in her right eye and it does not seem to affect her.
As a condition of the adoption contract, Sunny's new family must:
- Be willing to potty train and ensure she has frequent opportunities to relieve herself.
- Invest in basic obedience training (proof of enrollment required).
- Ensure plenty of socialization opportunities (both human and dog) as it's critically important at this stage.
