I’m an adult (4-7 years old) Doberman mix who is looking for a fur-ever family to call my own. My foster family tells me I’m a gentle-tempered soul. Something about the longing look in my eyes just makes them love me! During my life, I’ve been very fortunate to live with people that took wonderful care of me. I know what it’s like to be a part of a loving family, and long for that feeling again. Until then, I have been doing wonderful and am enjoying my time with my foster family.
In case you were wondering, I do know my name, so when you call me I’ll come running. I’m always up for an adventure as evident by my excitement when it’s time to go for a walk. I may be a little eager at the start, but I settle quickly and really just enjoy being outside. A fenced yard would be awesome for me but it would also depend on the situation. I do like to explore...
A great way to build a connection with me is through food. My foster mom says I do the cutest little hop when it’s time to eat, but then sit nicely for my meal. I do tend to gobble up my food pretty quickly, so I’d probably benefit from one of those slow-feeder bowls. When it comes to treat time, you line ‘em up and I’ll take ‘em down!
The type of home I’m looking for is pretty simple-an only animal home where I can spend the rest of my days with people that love me. I’ve lived with several dogs before, and I’ve learned I’m happiest as the only pet. Given my size, a home with children age 13 and up would be perfect! An adopter who knows the needs of my breed and who is willing to provide me with guidance would be best for me.
I know you’re all busy and have errands to run, but I don’t want you to worry about me when you’re out. Although I don’t love going in my crate, I’ll do it for you. It usually takes me a few minutes to calm down, but then I’m just fine on my own. During the night, I would sleep on my dog bed in my foster parent’s bedroom. On occasion I’d even get to cuddle in bed with them. I can’t tell you how much I miss having a warm bed of my own!
Ahhhh… so many toys, so little time. Given that I’m a champion of chewing (only toys not furniture), soft toys are no match for my playing prowess. Good thing they make super durable toys for dogs like me! Many dogs thrive on playtime with their families and I’m no different. I would love to be your partner in play! I usually give my toys up when asked, though I will need continual training. If you have a Kong and some peanut butter, I’m your man!
I bet you’re wondering if I’m house-trained and the answer is yes! Even though I may not know a bunch of tricks, I’m ready to learn if you’d take the time to teach me. Hmm… what else can I say to entice you? If you love the open road, I’m a willing companion. My foster family just took me up north with them and I did awesome! If you’re ready to roll, just swing on over to pick me up and we can be on our way!
Since I weigh about 60 pounds, you’ll be proud to hear I don’t jump on people when I’m excited. Instead, I love to nuzzle my head against you for affection. I’m a very connecting pup, I just need a family to snuggle with! If you let me, I’d love to lay my head in your lap and just chill. When I’m shown affection, my little nubby goes a mile a minute to show you how much I appreciate your time.
Well, that pretty much sums it up for me. I don’t want to give you all the details...! I’m hoping once you do that you’ll take one look into my soulful eyes and take me home, where we can live happily ever after. If you’re ready to learn more, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and my foster family will be in touch very soon. Till we meet… I’ll be thinking of you!
