Intake date 12 August 2023 . 1-2 year old spayed female Australian Shepherd . Suki came to us from a shelter partner where she had been picked up stray and not reclaimed. Suki had quite the journey to get to us, and arrived a happy, wiggly young lady who while she was somewhat out of sorts, she was completely ready to rely on us for guidance. . Suki is in short term foster for her spay, and her fosters describe her as goofy, snugly, smart, bouncy, and excitable! Suki can be somewhat reactive when out on walks -- she is most definitely excited in a good way to see and meet other dogs, so anyone considering Suki should be prepared to work on that. . Suki is good with dogs, and humans, though is unknown with cats. She is a classic 'bossie Aussie' so she will do best with canine housemates who won't be offended with boisterous play, and who enjoy the physical play style of Aussies. Suki's history with children is unknown, so she will not be offered to a home where young children (under 12?) reside. . Suki is crate trained, situationally house trained, walks reasonably on leash - until she gets excited. Suki would benefit from classes, and really wants a partner. She will do best in an active home with other dogs. . This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org. If you are interested in adoption, please submit an application, complete with documentation. . Dogs that have not lived previously with children will not be offered to homes where young children reside. We do not 'test' dogs with children or cats, since testing here will not show an accurate picture, and may give potential adopters false comfort. If a dog has lived with children or cats, that will be stated above. We do not place dogs as ESA, nor will we place a dog as hypo-allergenic. Applicants interested in adoption of a potential service dog must be working with an experienced trainer. . Please note that some young dogs may be placed with an alter deposit and contract, and any available dog of any age may be placed with a training deposit and contract -- this would be noted on offer, prior to placement. For additional information on these policies, please see our website. . Questions about dogs are generally not answered here due to lack of staffing. All available dogs may not be listed on our website due to time constraints and does not effect a specific dog's availability. Additional information and photos will be posted here as time permits.
