Meet Stretch

Stretch is a good boy looking for his first loving forever home. He hasn't had an easy life up to this point, but one thing he has always held onto was the dream that one day things would change for the better. Stretch was born on 3/2/2009 and as a puppy he must have being so eager to have a family instead he lived outside on a cement pad and had very little interaction with a loving kind family. Life was not fair and along with lack of love and care there was also lack of food. When he turned 10 his owners had enough and turned him into a shelter.

What a wonderful stroke of luck for this sweet boy. He got vet care, his teeth cleaned, his sores tended to and a soft bed to sleep on and enough food to fill his empty tummy. Stretch still has sores on his legs but they are healing and he has salve that helps him so much and if he needs to wear the cone of shame he wears it with pride and style.

Stretch is a submissive boy and will fit into a household with another dog as long as they are gentle. He craves loves and cuddles but will sometimes growl when another dog gets up, but he just has to be told no and he is getting better. Stretch has to learn that there will always be enough love for him and it won't run out. Now one other thing about Stretch is you have to handle him carefully, not that he will bite or act out but rather if you move him quickly he will scream in terror and curl up into a ball. It is horrible to hear and gives you a glimpse of what his life was like before. If we have to move him we talk to him gently and tell him what we are doing so he won't be scared.

Stretch needs a family that will love and cherish him and understand how much love he needs. At first he will cling to you but as he settles and knows he is staying and this is indeed forever you will see the light grow brighter in his eyes and the dancing breaks out.

Stretch has no food issues and is a very gentle boy and will wait his turn for treats and also his meal. Well he likes his food bowl first as he wants to make sure he gets one. He is now leaving food in his bowl, confident there will be another meal.

He is an amazing boy and he may mark at first so a belly band may be in order at first but after a few weeks he will stop. 16 lb Stretch did have a tumor removed from his leg, but it was deemed to be a result of the living situation he was in. He is happy healthy and ready to go and would dearly love a family.
