With a birthdate of March 14, 2020, Strawberry weighs just under 35 lb. We've included a picture of mom & dad.
Strawberry has lived her life in the yard where she was born. She is learning to be confident with her foster.
Her surrendering owner said that she will chase cats, but she ignores them in her foster's home.
Strawberry is doing well walking on a leash. She's affectionate and will roll over for attention. She offered no resistance when carried from her home. She greets people with enthusiasm and hasn't had any accidents in her foster home. She's crated at night and when left alone. She's comfy in a 42" crate which allows her room to sprawl.
Strawberry ("Pie") will bark at strange dogs, but is tolerant of the foster pack in her personal space. She sniffed at the cats as they sat on the counter and showed curiosity, but no aggression. When allowed in the bedroom, which is the cat room, she ignores them lounging on the bed or reaching out to touch her. She'll lay down next to her foster mom as she works or reads.
April 2020: We are not holding public adoption events until further notice. Qualified families are being invited to appointments to meet specific dogs. There are currently no opportunities to view multiple dogs and adoption events aren't being held at Tractor Supply in Lenoir.
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.
A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.
Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be required if, using our veterinarian or same-day surgery, service is scheduled through our organization. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.
We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
