Meet Stevie

Last month we were contacted about 2 senior pups that were brought to a local vet for a requested euthanasia. Their names were Jack and Jill. The doc that was on that day felt that although very old, that they were not appropriate for immediate euthanasia at the time and asked the owner if they would be willing to surrender them to a rescue. Luckily that owner agreed. And we were asked to take them as possible hospice fosters. The veterinarian graciously took care of these babies, volunteered to foster them and donated their medical care including grooming, dentals, lab work, etc. Unfortunately, after a short time, Jack started having very frequent daily seizures and the decision was made to humanely euthanize him. He was clean, comfortable, cared for and loved in his last days.

Jill, now known as Stevie has stabilized medically and is now settled into her new foster home.

Although we originally thought that Stevie would be entering the FADR family as a hospice foster, it has become clear that she is absolutely adoptable! Stevie is a 14-ish year old mini schnauzer who is super sweet and has lots of life and love to give. She does have some kidney disease but is doing great and has been started on a prescription diet. Stevie does well with other dogs, cats and kids. She loves to ride in the car, go on outings where she can meet new friends and play-especially if it involves a squeaker. Stevie loves a little action in her world but is always ready for some bedtime cuddles. let us know if you might be interested in adopting this old gal.

An adoption fee of $250 includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm preventatives if appropriate, and all necessary medical costs while in our care.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email to request an application.
